The Story
How a room, a mic and one question — what's your latent? — became the loudest thing in Indian online comedy.
2024
The show launches
Samay Raina starts India's Got Latent on YouTube as an unfiltered spin on the talent-show format: real acts, a comedian panel, no network polish.
Season 1
Clips take over the feed
Short highlights spread across Instagram and YouTube Shorts, pulling in an audience far beyond regular stand-up viewers.
Early 2025
Peak reach — and a flashpoint
The show had become one of India's most-discussed online formats when a guest's remark on an episode triggered widespread outrage, police complaints and a national debate about limits in online comedy. The episodes were pulled and the show went on pause.
19 June 2026
Netflix announces the return
Netflix revealed a creative collaboration with Samay Raina covering a second season of India's Got Latent plus an all-new stand-up special. Samay and Balraj Singh Ghai broke the news in a promo video, promising a still-unfiltered show.
20 June 2026
Season 2 premieres
The opening episode landed with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh on the panel beside Balraj Singh Ghai and Aashish Solanki — simulcast on Netflix and YouTube the same day, same runtime. A first-of-its-kind release strategy for a creator-led Indian show.
Now
A new episode every two weeks
The season keeps rolling with rotating celebrity guests and the same self-scoring twist: contestants must predict the average score the panel will give them.
